Regulations

- A student enrolled in the MS-Ph.D. integrated program shall be required to pass the QE by the end of the fourth semester from enrollment. If he/she fails the QE twice, the student shall be dismissed from the University. (University Statutes)
- If a student has obtained a master's degree from POSTECH or any other university and wishes to apply for a doctoral program, a written QE may be conducted along with a Ph.D. entrance examination, and the QE result shall be used in the admissions decision. (University Statutes)
-Written QE for the integrated program is held on the end of the semester within three semesters of one’s study. Three subjects are selected among Advanced Cell Biology, Advanced Biochemistry, Advanced Molecular Biology and other equivalent subjects specified by the faculty members in each area of study
- QE subjects designated by faculty members in each area of study must be approved by the Graduate Studies Committee of the Department
- If a student completes QE subject courses and receives a grade of B+ or above in each and all of them, he/she shall be exempt from taking a written QE and considered to have passed the QE requirement. A student with a grade below B+ is considered to have failed the QE once. (Revised on April 1, 2012)

- on the identical day for one subject
- right after the deadline of grades input on every semester and the must be noticed.

Students enrolled in March, 2016 and after

① Plant Sciences : (1) Advanced Molecular Biology or Plant Molecular Biology, (2) Advanced Biochemistry or Plant Physiology, (3) Advanced Cell Biology or Plant Molecular Cell Biology, choose 1 from each (1),(2),(3), for total 3 substitution subjects for QE.

② Cell and Developmental Biology : choose 3 from the existing QE subjects (Advanced Cell Biology, Advanced Molecular Biology, Advanced Biochemistry) or choose 2 from the existing QE subjects and 1 from Advanced Immunology, Cellular Signaling, Virology, Clinical Immunology, Neurobiology, Advanced Developmental Biology, Bioinformatics, Protein Biochemistry and Molecular Imaging

③ Structural and Molecular Biology : choose 3 from the existing QE subjects (Advanced Cell Biology, Advanced Molecular Biology, Advanced Biochemistry) or choose 2 from the existing QE subjects and 1 from other major subjects (Advanced Immunology, Cellular Signaling, Virology, Clinical Immunology, Neurobiology, Advanced Developmental Biology, Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology, Biomacromolecular Structures, Protein Crystallography, Bioinformatics, Protein Biochemistry).

④ Molecular Medicine : choose 3 from the existing QE subjects (Advanced Cell Biology, Advanced Molecular Biology, Advanced Biochemistry) or choose 2 from the existing QE subjects and 1 from other major subjects (Advanced Immunology, Cellular Signaling, Virology, Clinical Immunology, Neurobiology, Advanced Developmental Biology, Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology, Biomacromolecular Structures, Protein Crystallography, Bioinformatics, Protein Biochemistry).

Students enrolled in September, 2017 and after

① Plant Sciences : (1) Advanced Molecular Biology or Plant Molecular Biology, (2) Advanced Biochemistry or Plant Physiology, (3) Advanced Cell Biology or Plant Molecular Cell Biology, choose 1 from each (1),(2),(3), for total 3 substitution subjects for QE

② Cell and Developmental Biology : choose 3 from the existing QE subjects (Advanced Cell Biology, Advanced Molecular Biology, Advanced Biochemistry) or choose 2 from the existing QE subjects and 1 from Advanced Immunology, Cellular Signaling, Virology, Molecular Developmental Biology, Clinical Immunology, Neurobiology, Advanced Developmental Biology, Bioinformatics, Protein Biochemistry and Molecular Imaging.
